The Unintended Remodel

Our clients’ home was destroyed by a fire, moving up their remodeling plans by a year or two. The newly reconstructed home featured a gourmet kitchen with a contrasting island and a decorative range hood enclosure. Pull-out spice racks were incorporated into the hood enclosure design, providing handy access and a great use of a narrow space. With two young children, our clients still wanted the option of posting school work and family information on the refrigerator, but the custom door-style panels on this remodel didn’t lend themselves well to magnets or thumbtacks. We solved the problem by replacing the door panels on the side of the refrigerator with sheet metal, painted to match. Voila! Magnetic wood, or so it would seem.
